Earthquake has occurred in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara with magnitude 6.4 SR in Sunday, July 29, 2018 around 05.47 AM (local time). This magnitude is centered in the northwest of East Lombok regency with a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), up to August 13, 2018 there were 3.512.689 people affected by the earthquake; 436 people died, 1.355 people injured, 419.424 people scattered in various locations, thousands of houses damaged, and hundreds of schools damaged.Most of damages and casualties were found in North Lombok Regency.
Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) has been conducted Lombok earthquake emergency response in the area since Monday, July 31, 2018. After doing as assessment, WVI will focus on the child protection sector, providing sanitation and clean water facilities as well as education in emergency situations.
In responding to the basic needs of survivors after the earthquake, WVI has distributed 379 family kits and 349 children kits. WVI has also provided Child Friendly Space in several sub-villages which attended by 740 children. Furthermore, 30 teachers have followed psychosocial mentoring training held by WVI.
WVI also help by giving water distribution also builds temporary toilets in several points of East Lombok Regency. With all of the help, WVI hopes that people, especially children in East Lombok Regency could become healthy although life in their limitation.
