Sumatra Flood Response

Hundreds of lives have been lost and thousands of people have been displaced.

Children are left without homes, safety, and the comfort of their daily lives.

Cyclone SENYAR, which struck in late November 2025, triggered dozens of floods and landslides across 10 districts/municipalities in North Sumatra. Tapanuli Tengah District and Sibolga City have become the most vulnerable areas as they are now isolated, with access to both locations completely cut off.

Dozens of lives have been lost. Thousands of children and adults have been displaced. Children and affected communities urgently need immediate support and assistance.

Wahana Visi Indonesia will carry out an emergency response for the North Sumatra floods and landslides to help ease the vulnerabilities faced by children and communities. This emergency response will focus on children through the following actions:

• Distribution of hygiene kits and clean water

• Activation of Child-Friendly Spaces

• Providing psychosocial and educational support during the emergency

• Operating PMBA kitchens (Complementary Feeding for Infants and Young Children)
