On August 15, 2026, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Many affected children and families are in vulnerable conditions. Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) has mobilized to help, and we need your support to reach affected communities and children.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 15 km, approximately 30 km northeast of Nagekeo, and was felt across six districts within our program areas — Ende, Nagekeo, Ngada, Manggarai, East Manggarai, and West Manggarai. Several homes have been reported damaged, power outages have begun affecting some areas, and WVI's field team is still verifying the full extent of the impact. What we already know for certain is that children and families in Flores need help immediately.
As of today (August 15, 2026), WVI has prepared 170 Shelter Kit units at the Ruteng warehouse in Manggarai, with an additional reserve of up to 565 units from warehouses across Timor Island. This aid is ready for distribution. However, to reach more affected families and children, we need your support.

Our team is ensuring the safety of all Wahana Visi Indonesia staff and their families in the affected areas, conducting rapid assessments across the six affected districts to identify the most urgent needs of children and families. We are also working closely with local government and partners to distribute aid to those who need it most, as quickly as possible.
