Two days after the earthquake, children and families in Flores are still facing an emergency situation. Damaged homes and ongoing aftershocks have left some families feeling unsafe to return to their homes.
Wahana Visi Indonesia’s emergency response team continues to be present on the ground. As of August 17, assistance provided includes:
177 family tents distributed in Manggarai, East Manggarai, and West Manggarai.
174 tarpaulins distributed to families in Nagekeo and West Manggarai.
Clean water for families in Nagekeo and Ngada.
Psychosocial support for children in West Manggarai and Ende.
Moving forward, the team will establish Child-Friendly Spaces, continue distributing assistance, and initiate a special kitchen for young children to help meet the needs of affected children.
