Thanks to your support, children’s reading skills in Papua have doubled.
However, educational challenges in Papua go beyond strengthening children’s learning environments. They are also closely linked to families’ economic circumstances and access to essential learning resources.
Now is the time to complement the progress of children’s literacy journeys by sending a literacy supplies package to help keep children in Papua motivated to read. This gift serves as a meaningful acknowledgement of the progress that children and their parents have worked hard to achieve, while also helping to bridge the gaps they continue to face.
In 2021 to 2025, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) implemented an education programme focused on improving the literacy skills of children in Papua. Today, children’s reading skills in Papua have doubled, increasing from 32% at the start of the programme to 64%. Children in Papua are now able to develop their reading skills more effectively at school, at home, and in community reading centres (Rumah Baca).
