Asmat Children Celebrate Global Handwashing Day

Asmat Hope - The disease can be contagious through the food, hands, water or open defecation activity. That is why a clean and healthy life is needed to be implemented every day. Washing hands with soap is a way to prevent the disease in the human body.
Coinciding of Global Handwashing Day on October 15, 2019, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Area Program of Asmat collaborate with Warse elementary school in Asmat Regency, Papua held the handwashing with soap campaign that involved the teachers and students. WVI teaches the children to know the right way to washing hands with soap.
Emilius, a student who also a participant expressed his happiness.
“I am glad to be here because I can learn how to clean my hand together with friends. We are singing and washing hands together,” he said.
Emilius hopes that the handwashing activity can be done once a week in his school.
"We usually work together every Saturday in the school area. I wish we could wash our hand together,” he explained.
The child who dreams of becoming a teacher has a desire to invite his younger siblings, brothers, and parents to wash their hands with soap, so they can be healthier.
