05 Dec 2018
Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) released six short movies with theme ‘End Violence Against Children’ on Monday (December 12, 2018). The event was held at Usmar Ismail Hall, Jakarta as a series of End Violence Against Children campaign from 2017 until 2021.
Operational Director of Wahana Visi Indonesia, Irene Marbun who opened the event said there were 22.019 cases of children issues in 2011-2016. Almost 50 percent of that cases reported using sexual and physical harassment. The number is increasing year by year.
“This situation reminds us to protect all Indonesian children,” said Irene.
Meanwhile, Leny Nurhayanti Rosalin as Children Growth Deputy of Ministry Women Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia said all parties have to support this movement to stop violence against children, including children themselves, parents, teachers, or even the government.
Leny suggested spreading the messages of the movie to all over Indonesian so that people know how to do the right thing for children. It also to support SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and make Indonesia as a Child-Friendly Country in 2030.
“Indonesia will be more peaceful and nice without children violence,” Leny closed her statement.
By releasing the short movies hopefully, people can appreciate the voice of children. The movies were made by assisted children of Wahana Visi Indonesia Area Program Jakarta as an agent of change in ending violence against children. Their motto is “End Violence Against Children, Start from Me!”
