31,033 People Benefited at the End of Mastercard's Assistance Program

#BersamaMelawanCovid19 - After five months of supporting the community against the Covid-19 pandemic through Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI), Mastercard ended the cash voucher program support in September 2020. About 31,033 people (7,503 families) in four districts in North Jakarta and East Jakarta benefited from the program.

An elderly from Semper Barat Village explained that the assistance she received was very useful for family needs. She said, "Thank you Mastercard and WVI for helping the elderly of (village) RW 14. I have spent it to buy beef, potatoes, eggs, etc."

Not only tens of thousands of beneficiaries, but 107 merchants also benefited from the cooperation carried out with WVI in this program. Aminudin Latip is one of them.

The resident of RW 04 Kamal Muara sub-district, Penjaringan District expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that has been established with WVI. The cooperation that has been carried out so far has enabled traders like Aminudin to grow and get better income.

"We are very grateful to Mastercard and Wahana Visi Indonesia who have been concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic which has helped us a lot, especially in this program. The program has helped the society who have low income in the pandemic situation," he said.

Each family of the beneficiary is given the opportunity to spend a voucher worth Rp613,800; which they can spend to buy food in the form of rice, sago, corn, vegetables, fruit, chicken, beef, fish, nuts, shrimp, squid, and tempeh, tofu, eggs, potatoes, and corn.

Reza, a WVI's child sponsored in Kamal Muara subdistrict whose parents work as laborers, is also happy with the food aid. The uncertain income of the family made Reza and his family happy to be included as beneficiaries.

"Thank God, Wahana Visi really helped my family's economy to get vouchers to spend on chicken and vegetables," said Reza.

This assistance was distributed to people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with several criteria such as: the family of representatives of WVI children, families with under 2-years-old family members, toddlers, elderly, pregnant, widows, persons with disabilities, and economically affected families.
