Dow Donates PPE and 10,000 Masks to Support Health Workers During the Pandemic

#BersamaMelawanCovid19 - To support the safety of health workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, Dow through Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) provided PPE (personal protective equipment) and 10,000 KN95 masks to health workers in several areas of Indonesia. The program that runs April 2020 -September 2020 also targets the community through the water, sanitation, and hygiene sectors.

About 2,160 hazmat suits and complete PPE (contain gloves, foot and head cover, hand sanitizer, and surgery masks) have been distributed to 7 public health centers (puskesmas) in Jakarta and Cilegon areas. Masks of 10,000 KN95 were also distributed to health workers in the Surabaya, Southwest Sumba, and Manggarai, NTT areas. The masks distribution is a collaboration between DOW and Zhejiang Anshun, Sankyu, and BDP Indonesia.

The water, sanitation, and hygiene program supported by Dow and its distributors: PT Graha Esa and PT Connell Bersaudara Chemindo implemented in the form of providing hygiene kit worth IDR 250,000 to 586 households in the DKI Jakarta area.

The kits have been given in the form of vouchers, so the beneficiary can redeem vouchers at shop sellers collaborated with WVI. With the voucher, people can get a hygiene kit containing water buckets (10-20 liters), water dipper, adult bath soap, children's bath soap, detergent (1 kg), disinfectant (1 liter), baby diapers, adult diapers, and sanitary pads.

Jaronah, a beneficiary from Cilincing, said that the hygiene kit she received had helped her during the pandemic situation.

"I am satisfied with this aid because I have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and I have not to buy diapers for months, but now this aid has helped me a lot," she said.

Not only the people who benefit from this program but some traders also feel blessed after joining this program. One of them was Jaronah, a seller from Semper Timur Village, North Jakarta.

“Back then, my shop was not popular among people around here. But, this e-voucher aid from Dow Chemicals and Wahana Visi Indonesia has increased my sales, and more people are getting to know my shop. I am so happy about this, and I want to make my family happy," she explained.

Together with WVI, Dow continues to support people in the Jakarta and West Kalimantan areas through educational programs until 2021.
