BNPB Appreciates WVI with Disaster Management Award

Wahana Visi Indonesia received the Disaster Management Award category of community given by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Award was given as an appreciation of BNPB's to hundreds of partners and local governments who have collaborated and collaborated in overcoming disasters that have occurred in Indonesia. In particular, the award to WVI is given for the intensity, consistency, and innovation of WVI in disaster management.

"We are grateful to receive this award. This further motivates us to continue to provide the best for children and society. In every response made, WVI always prioritizes vulnerable groups, especially children, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, with a holistic response to disasters. We were present during the emergency response, distributed aid according to the needs of the survivors, and also carried out various programs in the fields of health, education, child protection, and post-disaster family economic recovery," said WVI National Director, Doseba T. Sinay.

Doseba said, in assisting children and the community, WVI is supported by many parties, namely sponsors and donors, government, and civil society organizations in the regions. Innovations are also continuously made to ensure that every response is effective, efficient, accountable, and of course right on target for the most vulnerable people.

During 2020 to early 2021, WVI conducted a disaster response in 10 regions in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara, East Sumba, Sikka, Lembata and South Central Timor in East Nusa Tenggara, Melawi in West Kalimantan, Parigi Moutong, Palu, Majene and Mamuju in Sulawesi, and Jayawijaya and Jayapura in Papua. Also, since March 2020 WVI has responded to the COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Response in 14 provinces which reached 1,373,843 people and 333,173 children, as well as Papua Education in Emergency Response in the Jayawijaya and Jayapura areas.
