Community-Based Child Protection System to Eliminate Child Violence in the Village

Violence against children can happen anytime and anywhere. The community in one of Wahana Visi Indonesia's (WVI) assisted villages in the Area Program of Sipado in Marawola District also experienced this. This was revealed when WVI explained the results of child monitoring carried out in the second quarter of 2022 which stated that cases of child marriage and children addicted to inhaling glue were quite large in this village.

To follow up on the case, WVI and the Sikola Mombine Foundation immediately held a meeting with community leaders, village government, BPD, RT heads, hamlet heads, religious leaders, traditional leaders, WVI social volunteers, posyandu cadres, PKK members, and children's forums. This meeting is intended to establish the structure of the Community-Based Child Protection System (CBCPS)

CBCPS is expected to be a way out of reducing the number of child violence in the village. In the future, the CBCPS members will disseminate the reporting mechanism to the community and propose to the village head to allocate village funds for the development of CBCPS activities.

"Thanks to WVI for being a forum for the formation of PATBM and we hope that we will continue to be assisted in solving children's cases," said Isran, one of the CBCPS members.
