Diligent in the Nutrition Garden, Child Gets Healthy
Sri Noni Evi (26) is proud of the simple garden in her yard. How could she not, with the results from this garden, Sri claims that she rarely buys vegetables. Rizky (3), her son's nutrition is also getting fulfilled.
Sri's garden is a pilot nutrition garden in a village in Sintang Regency. Before establishing this garden, Sri received training from Area Program Melawi Sintang Wahana Visi Indonesia regarding the nursery process and improving child nutrition. Now, Sri grows various vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplant, beans, spinach, chilies, and cucumbers.
According to Sri, her son likes cucumbers but they are eaten raw. In addition, Sri regularly goes to the posyandu (integrated health post) every month to monitor Rizky's growth and development status.
Even though Sri's nutrition garden gets abundant yields, Sri admits that she doesn't sell her garden produce. Instead, she distributed the produce to his neighbors. She hopes that one day she can expand the garden area so that the results obtained are more abundant.
“Thank you to Wahana Visi Indonesia for supporting the community, especially mothers of babies, toddlers, especially for training and seed support. We as a big family can now eat vegetables. Even the joy of being with grandmother and grandfather (Rizky) who also helped to hoe," Sri concluded happily.
