Drinking a Water is No Longer the Same
Did you know that not everyone is lucky enough to understand how to consume water properly? In Sirang Setambang Village, Sintang Regency, most people even still consume water raw without being treated first. Water sources that come from wells and cold and freshwater refill gallons make people reluctant to boil it before drinking. As a result, diarrhea cases often occur in villages.
Naomi (40), a posyandu cadre as well as a human development cadre from the village, is one of the cadres trusted by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Melawi Sintang Program Area to lead and deliver material related to the Socialization of Household Drinking Water Processing in her village. Yes, moving to several hamlets to help people understand how to treat water properly before consumption.
“Previously, I only knew how to treat drinking water at home by boiling it. But after I joined the training with Wahana Visi Indonesia, it turns out that many ways can be used. After participating in this training, I process drinking water using a water purifying powder daily,” said Naomi giving an example of how she teaches the public through her personal experience.
Naomi taught the use of water purifying powder, that supported by P&G through AIR Project, in every socialization she did. According to him, although initially the results of water using purifying powder are different from processed water, people will get used to it over time.
Naomi also told the public the reason for using a water purifying powder. The method of processing using a water purifying powder is very easy and simple, and water treated using purifying powder is safe for consumption and can be consumed immediately after we finish processing the water.
"I hope that after knowing how to treat household drinking water, the community will realize the importance of processing drinking water so that there is no longer a source of disease caused by drinking water," she explained.
