Easy to Make of ID cards and birth certificates

Fatuleu District, Kupang Regency, NTT is one of the villages where Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) serves. One of the problems in one of the villages in this district is the low ownership of population documents such as ID cards, birth certificates, and family cards.

Seeing the existing problems, WVI could not stay silent. Through the Cross-Sector Coordination Meeting activities, WVI invited all components in the village to jointly find solutions to these problems.

At the meeting, it was found that several causes of the problem of low ownership of these documents were found, namely the long distance between residents' residences and the population service, lack of knowledge about policies and requirements for managing population documents, and the existence of "brokers" who blackmailed residents who went to process documents. so it costs a lot.

The meeting then agreed on a follow-up plan, namely the Socialization of Terms and Policies for Making Population Documents and Making Documents for Community. This follow-up action was carried out by WVI together with the Kupang Regency Population and Civil Registration Service and was immediately taken by the community, to save costs and time.

One of the families who directly benefited from the implementation of this follow-up plan was the family of Frans (49) with his wife and two children. Frans and his wife immediately processed ID cards and their two children received birth certificates.

Frans said he was very happy because this was his first time applying for an ID card. According to him, processing an ID card was very easy and free of charge.

“I am very grateful and happy because the ID card processing is fast, there is no charge, and I take it right away. I used to go for a long time, and there were expensive fees because I had to pay people and expensive motorcycle taxis," he said.

The same thing was conveyed by Frans' wife, Yuliani. Yuliani is happy because now her two children have birth certificates. Yuliani added that she had been taking care of Birth Certificates for her two children for a long time, but the process was complicated, requiring long distances, and the costs were high, making it difficult for her to arrange Birth Certificates. Yuliani thanked WVI for facilitating the community to be able to easily process ID cards and birth certificates.
