Food Assistance for Rohida's Family

Food Assistance for Rohida's Family

The pandemic in Indonesia has occurred since March 2020 and has affected everyone. Rohida (42) is no exception. This mother, who works as a casual daily worker and does not have a steady income, really hopes for the good of the people around her.

How not, as a blind person, Mrs. Rohida is unable to carry out activities like other people in general. Even to carry out her daily work, she is often assisted by his neighbors, even if it is to eat or drink. Rohida has experienced the condition as a blind person since childhood, and this has made her rely on the people around her for help. Luckily the people around her, most of whom are also people with disabilities, really understand the situation.

Rohida works as a laundry worker. Even with this condition, it does not make her and her children depend on other people for their lives.

Unfortunately, her blind condition also happens to her daughter. Her daughter turned out to be experiencing visual disturbances which resulted in her not being able to see clearly. Treatment has been taken, but limited funds caused her daughter to stop treatment. This condition will affect the condition of the child's eye health if not treated immediately.

The I-COPE project, funded by the European Union, which focuses on reducing the risk of Covid-19 and building community resilience during the pandemic, also distributes aid to the community, especially for vulnerable groups. One of them is Rohida.

This mother of one has benefited from the assistance provided by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI). The basic food assistance in the form of eggs, rice, cooking oil, sugar, green beans, and red beans that she received, she admitted helped the food needs of her family.

“I would like to thank Wahana Visi Indonesia for the assistance. This assistance is very useful for us during the Covid-19 pandemic. I also have limitations and WVI is willing to help me. I hope WVI will always be successful and (the staff) be healthy,” she said after receiving the food packages.

During a pandemic like today, the need for food with good nutrition is needed for everyone. Everyone should boost their immune system which is the body's defense force against viruses. Improving the immune system is one of the keys to reducing the risk of being infected with COVID-19. This can be obtained through eating a balanced nutritious diet.
