Moringa Leaf Machine that Increase Family Income

Laurensius Lemba Liru (55), a private employee and farmer from Kupang City, never thought that his love for moringa farming could provide additional income for his family. Leri, his nickname, who also owns a moringa garden in Kupang Regency, received the aid of a moringa leaf drying machine which increasing the income of the family.

The production capacity of dried moringa leaves in Leri's garden increased after the Moringa Project of Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) was giving the drying machine for moringa leaves to Leri. The condition continues to improve after additional assistance from the NTT Provincial Government in the form of 2 units of moringa leaf drying machines, 1 unit of dry moringa leaf flour, and several other production support items in the form of 1 sealer machine unit, 1 large digital standing scale and 1 sitting scale. manual.

Currently, dry moringa leaves that can be produced by Leri in a month, in the range of 50-100 kg, with a selling price per kilogram of IDR 75,000. Previously the price is only IDR 50,000. Not only that, Leri can fulfill his needs in the form of Moringa leaf flour, with a selling price of IDR 150,000 per kilogram. The flour produced by this machine can even reach 300 mesh.

The income he earns is used to meet the clothing, food, and education needs of children in the family.

"There must be a strong or sincere will and patience so that our efforts can change to be better than yesterday," said Leri.

For now, Leri's farm income is relatively stable. Several local buyers have routinely picked up dried moringa leaves from him.

Leri said that he felt grateful and grateful for the support from her family and the training, mentoring, and skills improvement he received from the Moringa Project.

Leri hopes that there will be an increase in production in line with buyer demand. Also, his business can be grown, so that he can employ workers in the agricultural, production, and post-production sections.
