New Water Source for People in Sikka Regency

#BeraniMimpi - Do you remember the "Berani Mimpi Water for Sikka" campaign that was sounded by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) in 2018? The program aims to distribute clean water directly to residents' homes through a crowdfunding system (crowdfunding in large amounts). This program has been going on for two years, and now people have received clean water near their houses.

Hepang Village is the location where the pipeline is built. Now people, especially children, no longer have to walk 2-5 kilometers just to get water. Now they can easily get clean water directly from their homes. The children can focus more on learning than fetching water for hours as well.

Fransiskus A. Sin, Head of Hepang village, said, “Previously we had to walk about 2- 5 kilometers to get the water. Sometimes we had to buy tank water for IDR 350,000 for household needs and use it for 2 weeks. And now the water is already in our village. Thank you WVI and all the donors who have helped us in Hepang Village. "

Not only the village head, Vintje Daselma, a villager felt great joy through this program.

"This program makes us easy to wash, cook, and others," she said.

Everyone is happy with clean water. Chiara, one of the children also expressed her joy. She said, “I am very happy because the water is already in our village. Now we don't have to walk far to get water. Thank you WVI for caring about us. "

The clean water distribution program in Hepang village is carried out in two sub-villages. The 2.5 km pipe has been built in 113 house connection units as well as benefiting 180 households, or 693 people, of which 209 are children.

At the Virtual Celebration Berani Mimpi Air untuk Sikka event held on Friday (16/10/2020), Abner Sembong as the Sikka Program Area Manager also expressed his gratitude for the support of many parties, including the government, PDAM, village government, and donors who were involved in the realization of the distribution of clean water pipes.

"This project proves that we can do it hand in hand together," he concluded.
