Received the Benefit of Training, This Woman Created Children's Storybook

To support children and communities to have more access to literature materials, Area Program Kubu Raya of Wahana Visi Indonesia invited 12 parents/caregivers and teachers in the training of writing and managing stories. Patrasia Melania (20 yo), former Ambawang Child’s Forum administrator is one of the beneficiaries. Moreover, now she has her creation in a form of a children's storybook.

“I love to write since a long time ago. In 2012 I also won second prize in creating short stories at the junior high school level. Then, I joined Ambawang Child’s Forum in 2015 and got some courses from Wahana Visi Indonesia. The course has helped me to improve my capability,” Patrasia said.

She used to join the Book Story Creativity course. She learned how to write properly and how to detail the elements of the script, such as figures, backgrounds, problems, etc. Then, she finally braced herself to write a children’s storybook with the title ‘Inikah Daunnya?’

“When writing the story, I remembered my childhood in my grandfather's hometown. Then I wrote it as an adventure of Patrasia and Paul of looking for Binahong leaf as medicine of Patrasia’s wound,” she told the content of her book.

She hopes that people can read the book and also become the knowledge for children, especially introduce Binahong leaf. She also hopes that books can inspire more people to be brave to make something in their life.

“I thank Wahana Visi Indonesia and YLAI foundation to give me training and help me to print the book. I am so proud and touched,” she admitted.
