Ruhainna: We Rarely Received the Similiar Program

The farmer assistance program through the second phase of the Eggciting project of Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) supported by DSM and SightLife has ended. For approximately 1 year WVI has been assisting farmers in the Central Sulawesi region. Ruhainna (52) is one of the farmers who assisted in this project. She admitted that she felt a significant change from the assistance carried out by the Eggciting project of WVI.

Ruhainna has been raising laying hens for 15 years. According to her, from this business, she was able to build a house, support the family, send children to school and buy a vehicle. While working in this business, she has experienced many ups and downs. However, the Covid-19 pandemic was the worst condition she had ever experienced as a farmer.

Even so, Ruhainna is grateful to get to know WVI through the Eggciting project. She added that the training program in this project provides new knowledge for farmers.

“With a program like this for farmers, I have to make the best use of it, because it's rare for a program like this to see small and independent farmers like us. The government has never come or made a program like this, that's what I feel for 15 years running this business. This is the first aid program that I have experienced, even though the assistance is not in the form of capital, I still feel that it is sufficient because actually knowledge from smart and experienced people is what we need too,” said Ruhainna.

With the end of this mentoring program, Ruhainna hopes to be able to implement the knowledge that has been obtained from previous training.

"I hope that after the end of this program, we breeders, especially I can continue to remember the knowledge that has been given and apply it, do not give up on the situation, and continue to be enthusiastic about increasing egg production to fulfill the community's nutrition from an egg," hoped the mother of one.
