The Precious 8 Months

The Wologai Children Forum is one of the forums that has been running for one year under the assistance of Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Ende Program Area. Although the management is formed by forum members, each member has the enthusiasm to continue working through forum membership. Jeni (14), the vice-chairman of the forum, even felt a significant change after joining this group for eight months.

"We are taught about being kind and being an example for other children. We also learned about children's rights and types of violence and their impacts,” Jeni explained.

Jeni added, she is also starting to learn how to reduce violence with friends and respect her elders. This 3rd-grade junior high school student also learned to be a reporter of violence against children. Jeni also felt the need to obey what her parents said, to avoid their anger.

"From this change, I am increasingly happy and proud to participate in children's forum activities. I am coached so that I do not commit violence against others because violence must be ended by me first. I commit to being a child who loves friends. I will also continue to invite them to join in the children forum activities,” said Jeni excitedly.

Although it is relatively new, the activities of the Wologai Children's Forum are also quite diverse. Several activities such as Child Research Training, Musrenbangdes (Village Development Planning Consultation), as well as socialization about children's problems are often carried out by the children's forum.
