Victor: God Says I'm Luckier Than Them

What comes into your mind when you hear the word: flight attendant? Is it about cool uniforms, traveling for free, or staying at a comfortable hotel? Maybe that's what most people think about the thrill of being a flight attendant. Every profession has its challenges. As felt by Victor, one of Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) child sponsors.

One day, Victor shared with us a story about the profession he has passionate about since the end of 2019.

"The experience is really exciting because you can travel while being paid and it's exciting to meet colleagues from other countries. I've visited several cities in Australia and Japan," he said excitedly.

When our staff asked about the most unforgettable moment on duty, Victor replied, "When a passenger suddenly vomits in the galley and we have to clean up ... Also, about training, there are a lot of materials that you have to memorize, such as emergency procedures and methods. use of tools in an emergency."

Without realizing it, Victor has a soul of serve. He remembers when the WVI team came to his church to share about the Child Sponsorship Program, which brings the difference in his life.

"At that moment my life was bad because I had been out of work for five months. There is no suitable job for me. But it is precisely in such circumstances, God moves my heart to sponsor children. God says my situation is nothing compared to those out there. I am luckier than them. From there came pity and finally I made the decision to become a sponsor when my finances were just barely out,” he recalls.

Interestingly, after he knew about the Child Sponsorship Program and became a child sponsor, Victor got several job offers and one of them became a flight attendant, a job he passionate about.

For Victor, love is about the time when someone can give without expecting anything in return and give with sincerity. Victor's simple act amid his limitations proves that love can change all things. Sincere actions can have an even greater impact on others.
