In an effort to support every child in gaining access to proper hygiene, Bonvie, through Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI), distributed donations in the form of children’s hygiene kits. These donations were distributed across 11 areas supported under WVI’s emergency response to the floods and landslides in Sumatra.
The aid was delivered to schools and evacuation shelters located in Tapanuli Tengah, North Sumatra.
Not only distributing goods, but this support also enabled 1,201 children to learn about clean and healthy living practices after the disaster. Other initiatives included hygiene promotion (such as proper handwashing with soap and correct toothbrushing), providing psychosocial support in several Child-Friendly Spaces.
Romaulina (40), a housewife whose child is among the beneficiaries, said that the support from WVI and Bonvie has brought renewed hope to communities affected by the floods and landslides.
“WVI and Bonvie have truly strengthened us and helped us rise again after the flood, especially by teaching our children and pregnant mothers how to maintain good hygiene,” she explained.
WVI began its emergency response to the floods and landslides in Sumatra in November 2025, starting in North Sumatra. WVI continues to implement assistance programs for affected children and communities, including in Aceh Province. WVI will continue supporting communities in North Sumatra and Aceh until June 2026.
