Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) continues to be present in Sumatra, supporting communities affected by the floods and landslides that occurred in November 2025 through the Sumatra Flood and Landslide Emergency Response. As part of this effort, WVI has distributed hygiene kits with support from PT Prakarsa Jaya Sentosa (SOREX).
The hygiene kits included items such as underwear, towels, and socks. This distribution aims to support hygiene, comfort, and dignity for survivors, many of whom lost their clothing and necessities after the disaster. The kits were distributed across four different locations, including evacuation posts, villages, and a children’s home.
Jenni, one of the assisted people, shared that the assistance has helped meet her and her family’s needs. “We hope to rise again in the days ahead,” she said.
In addition to distributing goods, WVI also conducted hygiene promotion and reproductive health awareness sessions for children and adults who are still staying in evacuation centers. This program also aims to address critical health risks such as skin infections and reproductive infections, which commonly occur in such conditions. A total of 633 people, including children, women, and vulnerable groups, have received assistance.
WVI will continue the emergency response until June 2026. Key activities include promoting clean and healthy living behaviors among children, raising awareness of the importance of child protection in post-disaster contexts, providing psychosocial support through child-friendly spaces, and delivering multipurpose cash assistance.
