Child Protection

WVI believes that every child has the right to get their rights fulfilled. We attempt to fulfill 4 basic child rights, including to end violence against children (verbal, physical or sexual abuse) and to promote child’s participation and child rights.

Wahana Visi Indonesia has a focus on protecting children's rights, especially in reducing the level of child, physical and sexual violence that often occurs in Indonesia.

WVI for Child Protection

Wahana Visi Indonesia has a focus on protecting children's rights, especially in reducing the level of child, physical and sexual violence that often occurs in Indonesia. Several child protection programs are conducted by Wahana Visi Indonesia with total beneficiaries in 2016 is as many as 46,622 children. They have received mentoring child protection programs.

  • 43,399 children involved in 25 child forums in WVI assisted areas.
  • 1,656 children feel the impact of cultural revitalization that promotes children's rights
  • 1,567 children and 4,960 adults engage in Community-based Child Protection

WVI has various efforts to improve child protection, including:

1. CHILDREN’S FORUM
The Children's Forum is a place for children under 18 to participate in giving their voice such as their aspirations and opinions. This forum aims to improve children's capacity in 3 aspects:  1) Life Skill; Character and Value Development; 2) Citizenship Education; 3) Leadership and Organizational Expertise.  "Now I am more confident to speak in front of many people. 2. CHILD PROTECTION SYSTEM
WVI establishes and empowers the Village Child Protection Committee (Komite Perlindungan Anak Desa/KPAD) to carry out child protection social services. Through KPAD, parents and caregivers can report any suspicion of violence against children and villages also have local mechanisms for child protection. This system is enforced in 8 WVI service areas by reaching 1,567 children and 4,960 adults.

3. IMPROVING SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND PRO -POLICY ON CHILDREN
One of WVI continuous efforts is to promote children's justice for the welfare of children in education, health, child protection sector and the improvement of their family's economy. Efforts that have continued to be done until the year 2016 are to seek a pro policy to children.

The result:

  • 132 village regulations
  • 11 regulations at the sub-district level
  • 39 local regulations at the district level
  • 1 national regulation
  • A total of 183 policies were successfully published in 43 WVI assisted areas 1,304,769 children (ages 0-18) are beneficiaries since the policy is issued. And, more than 22,678,702 (under 5) children benefit from government policies at the national level in the health sector.
