Aid for Affected People of Flash Floods in NTT
#BanjirBandangNTT - Since April 5, 2021, WVI has distributed aid to people affected by flash floods in NTT. The assistance was provided at two evacuation shelters in East Sumba Regency.
Assistance in the form of water reservoirs with 5,000 liters of water has been distributed to Mauliru and Kambaniru Villages to help the community get clean water even though they are at the evacuation post.
"We are grateful that with this clean water assistance we can use it for drinking and other needs. Yesterday, when there was no clean water, we only used rainwater which we collected," said Christian Ndilu, Head of Mauliru Urban Village.
As of today, April 9, 2021, WVI distributes 123 family kits and 36 children kits in East Sumba. Not only in East Sumba Regency, but WVI also responded in the Kupang, Alor, South Central Timor, and East Flores regions.
Based on the results of the WVI assessment, currently, people need several main needs such as basic food, clothing, medicine, clean water, sanitation facilities, blankets, and emergency lamps. Some of them also said they needed building materials to repair their houses which were destroyed by the flood.
