Children's Stories: Every Child can Study and Life without Violence

The youngest child is synonymous with spoiled nature, depending on parents and every wish must be obeyed. However, this is in stark contrast to Isdayanti (17) who is the youngest of seven children. Her strong determination and unspoiled nature emerged from her various experiences working with WVI. Through the children's forum, Isda has become more adept at speaking in front of many people. Her dream is big for Indonesian children.

Recently, Isda participated in the Village Level Musrenbang. He represented his friends to take part in development planning in the village. On that occasion, Isda conveyed the children's desire for improvements to the learning facilities that were previously available at the BI Corner.

Isda wants the government to help procure loudspeakers, printers, and the availability of wireless networks to support online learning during the pandemic. According to Isda, at a time like this, not many children can access the internet to study from home. Isda hopes that every child can learn easily and not be hindered by internet access difficulties.

“I want children, especially on Hiri Island, come on, don't just play. Prioritize learning, not just playing," said Isda.

Seeing every child on Hiri Island have equal opportunities in education is not Isda's only hope. The student, who is currently in grade 2 of high school, also aspires to become a lawyer. This desire arose because she often saw the news on television about violence against women and children.

One day she wants to become a lawyer who can reconcile husband-wife relations so that it does not affect the development of their children. She wants every child to grow up in the shade of their parents' love and care.

Isda also said that what made her dare to dream of becoming a lawyer was her hobby of debating and expressing opinions. She has acquired this hobby since she diligently participated in WVI activities. Through mentoring in children's forums, Isda managed to transform herself into a better direction.
