Encouraging Parents to Familiarize Washing Hands from an Early Age
Getting children used to continue doing handwashing with soap from an early age is not easy. Parents need to help their children to do this, especially in a pandemic situation. Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) South Nias Program Area through the Prama project supported by World Vision Taiwan collaborates with the Health Office, South Nias Regency Education Office, and RRI (Radio of Indonesia Republic) South Nias to spread the importance of conducting handwashing with soap for children from an early age in South Nias through the CTPS (Handwashing with Soap) Campaign.
One of the activities of the CTPS campaign was carried out in the form of a talk show in commemoration of World Handwashing Day in October 2020. Swasti Duha, Head of Health Services District Health Office of South Nias who an interviewee also conveyed the invitation to the community to implement CTPS.
"Let's continue to create innovations to encourage people to get used to CTPS so they can live clean and healthy," she said.
This activity was also attended by the Head of the Education Office, Senimas Duha, who together voiced the importance of habituating CTPS to children in schools from early childhood education. All elements will continue to socialize and invite to familiarize CTPS with the community, even though it cannot be done face-to-face due to the current pandemic situation.
Through a similar activity, WVI will provide information about the importance of the CTPS habit to the community continuously. This action could help in preventing various diseases that can interfere with health, especially the development of children. Prama project has been implemented by WVI South Nias Program Area in 2019-2020.
