Inspired by South Korean Artist to be a Child Sponsor

#BersamaMelawanCovid19 - Siska Ariyanti never occurred to get to know Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) if she had never been a fan of an artist from South Korea named Lee Junho. The singer who is a member of the 2 PM group has become an inspiration for Siska Ariyanti to join as one of the child sponsors through WVI since August 2014.

"My story with WVI itself began in my undergraduate years in 2012 when I watched a video of Lee Junho was visiting Ethiopia to meet with his sponsored children, for 2 years through World Vision Korea," Siska said.

For Siska, Junho has opened the eyes of his fans to give to others without always being selfish. Since then, this 29-year-old woman is determined to do the same thing when she already has a personal income.

"At that time, Korean fans donated to World Vision Korea, but it was difficult for me who lived in Indonesia. I searched and found that World Vision is an international organization with partners in Indonesia under the name Wahana Visi Indonesia," she said.

The idea of sponsoring a child as Junho did eager Siska to do more because the Child Sponsorship Program not only contributes to strangers, but each sponsor can also get to know each other and build relationships with the children he sponsors. The long-term development program for children and communities in remote areas conducted by WVI also won Siska's heart to commit to being a sponsor for Paulus (11), a child from North Halmahera, North Maluku.

Siska and Paulus actively send news through photos and letters every year. She also often sent gifts to Paul.

"I hope that one day I can visit the children I sponsor as Junho did," she added.

Recently, Siska was involved in raising funds for the Covid-19 donation. The free time he has while undergoing PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restriction) provides an opportunity for him to do a virtual photoshoot of commercial charity at home. A portion of the shooting income was donated by Siska to WVI for the Covid-19 pandemic emergency response (COPE).

"I immediately thought to donate it to Wahana Visi Indonesia, because I have been a regular sponsor for years. While also reducing the complexity to check the validity of other fundraising organizations," she admitted.

Siska chose to continue to be grateful and to use what she could to support the many people who fought in a pandemic. His involvement in the program carried out by WVI has been a blessing to those in need.
