Tiara the Child Activator of Child Protection

Tiara the Child Activator of Child Protection

Being a child living in a village does not mean that you cannot get information about child protection. Children should also be aware of the importance of child protection that is taken care of by adults around them. That is how Tiara (9), one of the assisted children of Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) in the Hedgehog Program Area, felt.

Tiara is the daughter of the Community-Based Integrated Child Protection (PATBM) activist who has been working to fight for child protection in her village. Yonas, that's the name of Tiara's father who is also the head of PATBM.

In the village, activists and the village government in collaboration with the BPD (Village Consultative Body) are developing a Village Regulation (Perdes) for Child Protection. Seeing how noble her father's work is, Tiara is also happy to share at school what violence against children is.

"I often tell my friends at school not to disturb my juniors (bullying) because that is violence," said this child who dreams of becoming a policewoman.

This time, Tiara, who was accompanied by her father, also promoted the Stop Child Marriage campaign at the National Children's Day activity held in her village.

"Kai bulis besue omor gi angot, that means don't get married at a young age," she explained while taking the campaign poster.

The love that Tiara received from her father makes her happy to share goodness for children her age continuously.

Tiara hopes that the message of Stop Child Marriage can be seen by other people in her village and people will begin to realize the importance of paying attention to age in marriage. She also hopes that village regulations related to child protection in his village can be realized soon.
