A Church That Serves Others

A Church That Serves Others

#HiddenHero - For Pastor Sepri Adonis, being in a Covid-19 pandemic situation means serving more people. Although now he could not meet face to face with his congregations, Sepri's ministry is still able to run well with the cooperation of the whole congregation. The church members of the GMIT Nekamese church have even become hidden heroes for him.

According to the government's call to worship from home, Sepri must close the church and eliminate all activities in the church. Included are Sunday School activities. Nevertheless, Sepri encouraged his congregation to continue serving others even though they had to stay at home. One of them by making cloth masks.

"We gather congregations who understand how to sew and ask them to train other female congregations. As a result, we have succeeded in making more than 1,000 fabric masks which we later distributed to children, parents, and the community," Sepri said.

Together with villagers and local government, Sepri also opened a church as a quarantine place for those who were positive Covid-19.

"I often cry when I pray for my congregation. I want to walk with them. Together, we can help each other and bring hope to our community. We believe we can face this situation with God," he explained.

Pastor Sepri has felt the presence of Hidden Hero for himself, especially for the people in Nekamese Village. Then what about you? Who is your Hidden Hero in this pandemic?
