Parenting Style of Millennial Generation

Parenting Style of Millennial Generation

Tripina Sri Rahayu, a housewife from Jaya Mentari Village, Sintang District, West Kalimantan, was surprised by the training material she had just received from Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI). The mother of three, also a village health cadre, gained new knowledge from the training she received on that afternoon.

Sponsorship Basic Training is an activity she participated in that day. After joining, Tripina understood how to educate children from different generations.

“The new thing that I got was about childcare in the millennial era. It turns out that parenting in the pre-1990 era was very different from parenting in the millennial era. Each generation has a different parenting style, including the millennial generation who now have a very different parenting style from the previous generation," said Tripina.

According to her, parents in the previous generation of millennials tend to focus excessively on their children and have a big role in determining the future or things their daily consume. The emergence of the internet in the lives of millennial generations has a major role in their lifestyle, from the choice of main sources of information to how they spend their time and income daily.

Tripina is happy to be involved in the training with WVI. This provides new insights for her to be able to apply the right parenting patterns for his children.

Just like Tripina, there is also Megawati that feels the same pleasure. Not only getting Sponsorship Basic Training, but Megawati also received information on how to do parenting with love for children.

"With this training, it will be helpful, especially for parents, to be able to take care of their children according to their children's needs and to develop better," said Megawati.

Megawati explained, sometimes parents always force their own will without listening to the children's opinion and what they should get, so children often have to follow what their parents want. This situation creates poor communication for both the child and the parents and can hurt the child's growth and development.

Both hope that through the training they have received, many parents can understand how to communicate effectively with their children. At the same time, children can also avoid the dangers of socializing today after their parents get the right information in the parenting style of this millennial generation.

Tripina and Megawati are examples from the community who first received information regarding parenting with love for children. There are still many women and other parents who are not as fortunate as them to receive valuable information like this.

You can support more children and communities to get good information and knowledge for the first time in their lives through the A World of First campaign. Click this link for more info: https://wahanavisi.org/en/sponsor-anak/anak
