Martina (15), student of Buti Public Junior High School said that she was so happy because she could participate in inter-schools basketball match. "I feel glad for being able to compete with some friends from Urumb Public Junior High School. I find new friends. Thank you SMI and WVI who have helped us to build a basketball court,” she said.

Buti Public Junior High School is one of the school models assisted by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) that also develops a Child-Friendly School in Merauke District, Papua Province. Child-Friendly School is a program initiated by WVI involving local government to create Child-Friendly City.

At Child-Friendly School, the stakeholders are invited to involve in making improvements to the teaching and learning conditions, including school facilities. This is intended for fulfilling the best interests of children and creating a friendly place for them.

In order to fulfill the interest, WVI collaborates with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) to build a basketball court at Buti Public Junior High School. Not only basketball court, PT SMI has also provided clean water access at Urumb Public Junior High School and Buti Public Junior High School. These facilities have completed since April 2018.
