Prudential Indonesia and Wahana Visi Indonesia Built the Child Friendly School in Papua

Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) in collaboration with Prudential Indonesia inaugurated the library of the primary school (SD) Inpres Komba in Sentani, Jayapura on March 1, 2018 through the Child-Friendly School Project. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Alpius Toam (Head of District Education Office of Jayapura District), Misran Pasaribu (Head of Financial Services Authority in Papua and West Papua), Abdul Rahman Basi (First Assistant to the District Secretary of Jayapura District), Jens Reisch (President Director of Prudential Indonesia), Nini Sumohandoyo (Corporate Communications & Sharia Director), Doseba Tua Sinay (CEO & National Director of WVI). The students of SD Inpress Komba give welcoming procession with traditional dance for this event. The program is a part of the Child Friendly School program in Papua.

The program was carried out to support children's education programs in Jayapura District through the infrastructure development in two schools as part of Prudential Indonesia's focuses to develop the Indonesian children’s education that became a pillar of Prudential’s Corporate Social Responsibility program.

"Prudential Indonesia is committed to support the improvement of the quality of basic education as the foundation of the increasingly empowered and prosperous Indonesian community. Our presence here is a tangible form of corporate support in the making of Child Friendly Schools in two schools in Jayapura District,” said Jens Reisch, President Director of Prudential Indonesia.

WVI together with the local government of Jayapura District agree to run the social responsibility program from Prudential Indonesia from August 2017 until 2019. Through this program, volunteers and marketers of Prudential Indonesia helped to renovate the library building at SD Inpres Komba and classrooms at SD YPK Ifar Babrongko. Beside renovation, Prudential Indonesia also provides training assistance for the Active, Creative, Effective and Joyful learning methods and financial literacy activities for teachers in eight elementary schools in Jayapura District. The whole series of activities are held to improve the quality of teaching and learning of Papuan children, especially in Jayapura.

Through this Child-Friendly School project, 480 children will be benefited from the improvement of learning facilities in two schools and more than 1,800 children will get benefit from the literacy training for 27 school teachers in Jayapura District.
