Simple Support with Big Impact

#GempaAmbon - The School Back Movement (Gerakan Kembali Sekolah) continues to be implemented by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) after the Maluku earthquake. This time, WVI is helping children to get adequate learning places through 8 temporary school building placed in 4 elementary schools.

This temporary school building was sent directly from Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Port to Ambon's Yos Sudarso Port with the support of PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL). The delivery of the goods was handled by the SPIL logistics team since the process of taking goods at the WVI office, sea travel, and distribution by land to the construction site.

This temporary school is a removable building that is resistant to adverse weather and earthquake conditions. Now, two temporary schools have been built in Liang Village and West Seram District, and the rest are still under construction.

Kadin Masily, Principal of SDN 3 Kairatu School who helped in the temporary school construction process, said that he was very grateful to get temporary school building assistance considering that many school buildings had been cracked.

"This assistance is very helpful so that children are not afraid to learn anymore, because this tent is different from other tents. From construction and its materials are very good and durable. Thank you for your kindness help WVI," he said.

In addition to providing school building assistance, WVI also provides psychosocial assistance to children and teachers through the Non-Training Training (Assistance Training) program to be prepared to deal with possible aftershocks. Through the emergency response team, WVI continued to provide assistances to earthquake affected communities until the end of December 2019.
