SSLC, The Learning Center for All
Samsung Smart Learning Class (SSLC) was full by the visitors in last April 2019. They were the teachers who came from Lanny Jaya District, Papua. They wanted to know more about this SSLC, so Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) assisted them to give knowledge about SSLC.
The visitors were known about SSLC from Education Authorities. They were informed that SSLC became the only learning center that helps students of elementary schools in Biak.
In this visitation, the teachers could have an opportunity to look around all the facilities in SSLC. They were also got permission to use the tablet, smart TV, VR, and know more about the learning menu which is available on the Samsung tablet.
The appreciation was mentioned by the teachers about SSLC. They said that this learning class can be useful for teachers and students. They said that the information they got from SSLC would be transferred to the local government of Lanny Jaya District.
“Thank you for two days in SSLC. We are thankful to be chosen to visit SSLC. We are really happy to learn here,” said Hermina, one of the visitors.
Not only Hermina but also Tutuli Wenda as principal of one of an elementary school in Lanny Jaya expressed her gratefulness.
“We couldn’t find the learning moment like this in Lanny Jaya. From this visitation, we learn more about learning class. Thank you to WVI who assisted us. We hope that Lanny Jaya District can implement the learning class to make the classroom become more creative and attractive,” Tutuli said.
Besides the teachers, SSLC can be used by the students and outsiders. One of the users is a member of the Waupnor Child Forum.
Together with Waupnor's head of village kaka-kaka and village head, they also had the opportunity to learn about the use of the internet to support learning activities. On this occasion, the Child Empowerment and Protection Agency as WVI's partner delivered information on the dangers of negative content using the internet and social media. This material is expected to be able to supplement the children's understanding of the Children's Forum not to access websites that are not according to their age.
Mira, head of the Waupnor Child Forum said that she and her friends were very grateful to be given the opportunity to be able to study in the Samsung Smart Class.
"In addition, we are also taught to use social media properly and wisely. We are very happy, "Mira said happily.
The use of social media is indeed increasingly worrying nowadays. Unfortunately, many parents do not understand the dangers and how to use them well. This condition was responded to by the board of teenage children of the Maranatha church, as one of WVI's partners.
During the Easter celebration, the board asked WVI to facilitate the use of social media to hundreds of teenagers in the Maranatha congregation. This socialization was conducted in three sessions where the children took turns to take classes in SSLC.
The YPK Waupnor Elementary School Principal stated that supporting the presence of SSLC could be used well for the people living around SSLC.
"In addition to SD YPK Waupnor SSLC will also be well accessed by the Biak community," he concluded.
