Tokio Marine Distributes Educational Kits to Support Study from Home

#BersamaMelawanCovid19 - In order to provide support to children study from home during the Covid-19 pandemic as well as to help the child's development process socially and emotionally, Tokio Marine through Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) provided various educational kits to thousands of children in Landak Regency, West Kalimantan. Twenty-two elementary schools have received the educational kits and it has benefited 2,728 students.

The various educational kits consist of literacy puzzles, numeracy puzzles, and Snakes and Ladders gameboard. Pipit (17 yo), the older sister of a beneficiary child, expressed her happiness after receiving the kits. Pipit said she and her family now have numerous times and fun times playing Snakes and Ladders and puzzles.

“I’m so happy to receive these educational kits. I can play and learn about COVID-19 at the same time. I’ve learned that I have to always wear a mask wherever I go, wash my hands regularly, as well as stay at home," said Jose (11 yo), another child beneficiary.

Jose, the 6th grader, now likes to spend time playing puzzles with his younger brother. According to his mother, during this pandemic, Jose always studied from home.

The lack of textbook resources makes Jose and his friends have to do study in groups so that the teacher can lend them books in turn. The various educational kits that Jose and the other children received really helped the playing and study process at home

“We are so grateful. Our children can play and learn at the same time so that they can stay at home comfortably and minimize outdoor activities," Jose's mother admitted.

Mr. Supardi, the head of the village in Landak Regency said, "We would like to express our gratitude to PT. Asuransi Tokio Marine Indonesia has provided our children with educational kits through Wahana Visi Indonesia. At the moment we are unable to provide this kind of item to our children because we have to prioritize the Village Government Budget to be used for other urgent donation aids for the community."
