Unilever Care for Clean and Healthy Living Behavior

#BersamaMelawanCovid19 - The COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged many people to care more about their health and personal hygiene. This also becomes the focus of the Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) program in all assisted areas to build the awareness of a clean and healthy life in the community, especially for children. WVI, supported by Unilever has distributed hygiene packages to parents and children in the Sidodadi area, Simokerto district, Surabaya, East Java in July 2020.

The hygiene packages distributed to the community and children consist of soap, toothbrushes, and laundry soap. Maisaroh, 12, one of the children who received the cleaning package, admitted that she is happy with the package. This package is not only useful for her but also for her family.

“I am happy to get a package of body wash, toothbrush, and laundry soap. The toothbrush is for me while the laundry soap is for my mother and bath soap for all the family. Thank you,” she said.

The joy is not only felt by Maisaroh but also Sabi'ah, 35, a housewife, and a posyandu cadre. According to her, the assistance that she received was on time and meet her current needs.

“I am happy to get the package because it can be useful for my family’s daily needs. Thank you Unilever and WVI,” she said happily.

As of July 2020, as many as 4,411 children and 342 posyandu cadres have received hygiene packages in the Surabaya area. They live in several neighborhood units as the intervention areas of WVI’s program. Besides Surabaya, Unilever also distributed aid packages in various WVI’s assisted areas in Jakarta. With all these efforts, the community, especially children, can adopt a clean and healthy living behavior so that they can avoid the risk of COVID-19 infection.

In addition, Unilever also distributed 6,000 boxes of SariWangi tea to health workers in community health centers in Jayawijaya, Asmat, Sentani, Nagekeo, and Ngada, Ende, Sikka, Kupang, South Central Timor, Jakarta, Biak, and Southwest Sumba. This assistance is expected to motivate the health workers in carrying out their duties.
