WVI and Target Corporation Ready to Provide Children's Playground in Bengkayang

It is important for children to have their own playing time. However, if the child does not have a place to play what should be done? Unfortunately, this can still be easily found, especially in rural areas in Indonesia. One of them is in Suka Maju Village, Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan.

Seeing the many phenomena of the lack of play area, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) through the support of Target Corporation through the CAF America (Charities Aid Foundation of America) and Easter donations from WVI staff in 2018, founded the Suka Maju Village Playground. The construction of this playground is intended so that every child can have quality playing time in a decent place.

Markas, as the Headman of Suka Maju Village, said, the idea of creating the playground has been on his mind for a long time. He hopes to be able to create a place for children to gather and play with friends and family.

"I am very happy if WVI can help us to build a playground," explained Markas.

According to him, having a playground for children is one of the important things for a Child-Friendly Village. Limited resources, especially in the budget, became one of the factors that prevented the village from developing this.

In line with what was stated by Markas, Magdalena, as a manager of Early Childhood Care and Development (PAUD) in Suka Maju Village stated the same thing.

"Of course we are very happy if there will be a place to play for children, especially our PAUD is very close to its location, so it can bring children to play there," she said.

Currently, the construction of the playground has reached the stage of installing a multifunctional field foundation, where is one field there will be three games (basketball, volleyball, and badminton). Meanwhile, for the park section, it is currently in the stage of working on concrete creepage in the front of the village library which will later become a pathway to the playground.
