Enthusiasm to Make BUMDes Shine

Running a Village Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) is not an easy thing. If not with a high commitment, it will be difficult for BUMDes to make a profit. BUMDes Cahaya Oesao in Kupang Regency has experienced this. In the absence of assistance and partners, this BUMDes has even only received a profit of two hundred thousand rupiahs.

However, Ishak E. Saduk, the new leader of BUMDes, never tired of making BUMDes Cahaya Oesao shines. During his leadership period, Ishak did many things that could advance BUMDes while at the same time inviting various partners to be involved in the progress of BUMDes.

The initial step taken by Ishak in running the BUMDes business was how to prepare a suitable place to carry out business activities, in the first stage, the BUMDes management restructured the BUMDes office building which had never been used during the previous management period.

Ishak and the BUMDes administrators then built networks with various parties to reorganize the BUMDes business. Some of the partners involved include banks, several shops providing agricultural necessities, and chicken companies in terms of selling broiler chickens. Meanwhile, for now, the Management is also temporarily preparing to build a catering business with the PKK Mobilization Team and the Oesao Village Youth Organization.

According to Ishak, what was received by BUMDes could not be separated from the participation in the Envision project of Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) funded by European Union, which collaborated with YAO as a partner. Through the Envision project assistance, WVI and YAO helped BUMDes to build communication (advocacy) with all stakeholders in the village such as the village government, BPD, community leaders, women leaders, etc. WVI and YAO also support BUMDes through management training to help each BUMDes carry out its functions optimally and can be useful for many parties.

“Don't let this “Light” dim. The light must be brighter and illuminate the surrounding environment,” concluded Ishak.
