My First Experience of Activities with WVI
The lack of activities that involve children, both from the village government or the government, moreover there is not many routine activities that can be done during the Covid-19 pandemic, making children prefer to spend their free time playing with gadgets rather than playing with their peers. As experienced by Rizki (11), who took part in an activity with Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) for the first time.
Rizki attends an elementary school located in a village that is the assisted area of the Melawi Sintang Area Program of WVI. WVI often does various activities with children, but this is the second time WVI has held activities in the village where Rizki lives.
On that day WVI conducted dissemination of knowledge related to household drinking water treatment, and Rizki was one of the child participants who attended. This activity is made to teach children to do better and care about clean and healthy living behavior. Rizki is one of the beneficiaries of this program.
During this activity, Rizki also learned handwashing with soap. He was also active in answering questions posed by WVI staff. Rizki even helped with the demonstration of mixing dirty water that had been given cleaning powder in front of his friends.
According to Rizki and his friends, they have never seen an incident of dirty water turning clear. This experiment made Rizki and his friends curious and enthusiastic.
“I am happy to manage to participate in activities with Wahana Visi Indonesia. Later, if there are more activities, I will come again," promised Rizki to WVI staff.
