IBM Indonesia Supports the Psychosocial Recovery of Children in Lombok

#LombokBangkitKembali - Two months after the earthquake hit Lombok, at least thousands number of people were affected. The phase of post-disaster recovery continues to be endeavored to support and ensure that each affected community able to rebuild their lives in a safe and conducive environment, including for children as the most vulnerable and affected. Psychosocial support is still needed so that children get recovery for their psychological condition.

To support the psychosocial condition of affected children in Lombok, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) as child focus humanitarian organization, has conducted certain activities in Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) as one of main emergency response programs in Lombok. Supporting WVI endeavor to the recovery of psychosocial condition of affected children in Lombok, IBM Indonesia, a world’s leading information technology company through its corporate social responsibility program, provide equipment and facilities of CFS. The equipment and facilities are tents, stationeries, school equipment, and books. In addition, to support the aid distribution process in Lombok, IBM also provided assistance in the form of laptops and cellular phones with the application-based registration process.

 

The equipment and facilities provided by IBM will be used in 8 CFS. These equipment and facilities will be used as well in supporting the temporary schools as the follow up of CFS in Lombok. Local teachers will be trained to bolster up the learning process in temporary school.

IBM Indonesia volunteer team also visited Lombok on November 4, 2018, to give sports equipment and toys to children in Sokong Village, North Lombok.
