Clean and healthy living can be started by getting used to doing washing hands with soap (CTPS). One of the things that Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) can do is to encourage CTPS activities in several WVI service areas. One of them is through the HANDS (Hand Washing Station in Surabaya) project implemented in the Area Program of Surabaya.

The HANDS project focuses on CTPS activities on Early Childhood Care & Development (PAUD) children with the aim of changing children's habits. In addition, the HANDS project which supported by Jebsen and Jessen company also focuses on building various mass CTPS facilities for children in the four WVI assisted areas.

The construction of the facility took two weeks and was placed in four PAUDs assisted by the WVI Area Program in Surabaya. Although currently the CTPS facility has been completed, there is still another important thing that needs to be done by WVI staff together with the community, which is to change the clean lifestyle of children who are the focus of this project.

Children are accustomed to forgetting CTPS after doing activities. That is why the CTPS campaign has been re-activated. Not to mention the emergence of the fact that diarrhea rates in some of the Surabaya Program Area assisted areas are quite high, so this is a strong reason why the CTPS campaign needs to be continued.

The campaign is carried out by inviting children to get used to washing hands before entering class and starting lessons. Fariza, one of the teachers said that her students looked very enthusiastic and happy in doing this activity.

"Children like washing hands even after the class and before going home they take the initiative to invite the teacher to wash their hands with soap," she explained.

Ilyas, a child chattering, "It's nice to be able to wash hands with friends, we can play water and the water is cold," he said.

Until now CTPS activities continue to be carried out in 2 Subdistricts: Sidodadi and Tambakrejo. WVI also continues to socialize CTPS and joint CTPS activities in the two villages.
