ASCA Program Help Children's Education Fees

ASCA Program Help Children's Education Fees

The support and attention from Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) for the area in Ternate was felt and responded well by local residents.

WVI has implemented this concern through the assistance program of the Accumulating Saving and Credit Association (ASCA).

WVI hopes that ASCA will be the first step so that the community is better prepared when facing emergencies such as natural and non-natural disasters as well as the current COVID-19 pandemic.

As a form of support in dealing with this emergency, WVI also through the project Indonesia COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Response (ICOPE) program funded by the European Union in collaboration with local CSO DaurMala distributed hygiene kit packages for 14 ASCA groups targeted by the program and reactivated 11 ASCA groups and formed 3 new ASCA.

Of the 14 groups that were reactivated, Ida Noho who was a member of the ASCA Guraici group became one of the most enthusiastic people.

Ida, who is known to work as a horticultural farmer, is a housewife who has three children.

With an income of approximately Rp.500,000-700,000 per month, she must be smart in managing so that her can meet his daily needs. Moreover, Ida has to pay for the school needs of her two children who will soon enter junior high and high school at the same time so that they have to save more.

Ida is grateful that thanks to ASCA she was able to save and make a loan to pay the dues for her 2 children so that they can continue to a higher level.

She also thanked WVI because the ASCA program has changed the mindset of the people of Ternate to be more concerned about the benefits of saving, which they previously did not know about.

“Thanks to Wahana Visi Indonesia, the European Union, and Daurmala for reactivating the ASCA Guraici group. I hope that more ASCA groups will be formed in Ternate City,” she concluded.
