Knock on the Door to Prevent Stunting

Not many people know that stunting (a condition where children's height is shorter than other children with their age) is still a problem in this country. To prevent stunting from spreading in South Bengkulu Regency, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) together with the Tumbuk Tebing Village government made prevention efforts. One of them is knocking on doors, or directly visiting children under 5 years old to monitor their growth and development.

This is done by posyandu cadres to children who cannot attend the posyandu, on the day the posyandu monitoring is carried out. The cadres carry outweighing and monitoring children directly from the children's homes. This direct visit was part of the follow-up to the Circular on Increasing Participation in Posyandu issued by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) together with the Tumbuk Tebing Village government.

Through the Circular, all parents with children under 5 years of age are invited to actively bring their children to the posyandu and monitor their growth and development on an ongoing basis. Dovi Mei Rusmanna, Head of Tumbuk Tebing Village (24) said the circular was a joint effort of the community to prevent stunting in their village.

"For residents who get support from village funds and other government assistance who have children under five years of age are required to be able to attend the posyandu day," said Dovi when reading the contents of the circular.

Through this joint action, it is hoped that children in Tumbuk Tebing Village can avoid stunting and malnutrition.
