Launches Green School Book, WVI Handover Education Program

“What Wahana Visi Indonesia has done is extraordinary. Local governments can only give certificates of appreciation. But it is not comparable to what WVI has made so far," said Sambas Regent H. Satono, S.Sos.I, MH in his remarks during the Green School Book Launch and the Handover of the Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Education Program on Thursday (10/3/22).

Satono said that the programs that WVI had carried out such as teacher training, library construction, construction of healthy toilets, and hand washing facilities with soap as well as the implementation of the Green School greatly contributed to the community, especially children in Sambas Regency.

"This is a good program, and we will continue with the regional budget," said Satono.

The Head of the District Education and Culture Office in Sambas Regency, Drs. H. Sabhan, M.Pd, also conveyed the same thing. According to him, the achievements made by WVI have been extraordinary at the national level. Moreover, he added, WVI issued a Green School Book showing the journey of the Green School Program.

"This Green School Book will be a guide for the Education and Culture Office to create the concept of a Progressive School which is integration with Child Friendly Schools," said Sabhan.

Ignatius Anggoro, Manager of the Sambas Program Area said that the presence of the Green School since 2011 in Sambas is a form of WVI's concern for the phenomenon of world climate change, especially in West Kalimantan. Not to mention the increasingly clearing widespread conditions of massive traditional land.

"With the Green School, children learn to respect nature and each other," said Anggoro.

Along with the end of WVI's service period in Sambas Regency in September 2023, the Green School education program will be continued by the Sambas Regency government. One thing that has been successfully prepared with the Education and Culture Office is the selection of 20 Green School Master Teachers.

Previously, WVI's Sambas Program Area had also received an appreciation award for its contribution to the community in Sambas Regency. Based on WVI's ideas and involvement in assisting children's education during the Covid-19 pandemic, WVI got a Very Innovative Community Organization appreciation from the Sambas Regency government.

WVI has been present in Sambas Regency since October 2007. Various assistance programs for children and the community have been carried out until now. Focusing on the education and child protection sector, WVI continues to be committed to creating a fully intact life for the children of Sambas.
