New Radio for Study from Home

Many children now spend more time at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Children who previously had to go to school have to study from home with the guidance of their parents through learning modules and books. The condition often makes children feel bored because they have to study alone with their parents without friends, such as at school.

Seeing this, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) Program Area Pegunungan Tengah provides learning support to children through radio learning programs. Radio media can act as an alternative for children to study from home, by listening to explanations from teachers and other sources about a material. Also, the children got radio and books to support their learning from home.

“My parents usually take modules at school for me so I can do assignments at home. Thank you for the radio and books that were given to me,” said Awin, a 7th-grade student of SMP in Wamena who received a radio from WVI.

Previously, Awin only studied at his home using the learning module his teacher gave him at school. Through the radio given to him, Awin will be able to attend radio learning programs every day and can enjoy learning activities from home.

Radio is one of the media used to support children's learning at home during the Covid-19 pandemic in Wamena. Limited network and internet access have helped children like Awin to continue to gain knowledge even at home.
