Office Stationery Packages to Support Literacy Activist Teachers

The Teacher Working Group-Based (KKG) Basic Literacy Activity is one of the cross-sectoral partnership activities in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which is supported by WVI AP Nagekeo-Ngada, the Innovation Institute and the Education and Culture Office.

This activity was created to increase the teachers’ capacity in providing and preparing literate learning tools for students, especially for lower grade students (grades 1-3) in Elementary Schools (SD) in learning during this pandemic.

The choice to provide a package of Office Stationery (ATK) to support Basic Literacy activities, was carried out by WVI after hearing about the difficulties of low-grade elementary school teachers in the IV-Boawae cluster due to the limited number and types of stationery.

The office stationery package provided consists of a dozen board markers, small scissors, a paper cutter, a 30 cm iron ruler, medium paper tape, liquid glue, and 12-color non-toxic crayons.

This activity was successfully held on 7 October at SDK Watugase, one of the assisted schools of WVI AP Nagekeo-Ngada in Nagekeo Regency.

In this activity, WVI AP Nagekeo-Ngada provided support for 17 office stationery packages to lower grade teachers who were participants in the KKG-Based Basic Literacy Activities in the IV-Boawae cluster.

The teachers who received the office stationery package came from the 5 elementary schools in the cluster and two of them were assisted by WVI AP Nagekeo-Ngada schools.

Teda Maria Siata as the head of SDK Gero School who is the head of the KKG also represented the participants to accept it.

“Thank you woso (Thank you very much) Wahana Visi Indonesia for this office stationery assistance. Our hope all this time for someone to help us for stationery, has been answered. God sent WVI to help us. Thank you," she said.

In addition to basic literacy learning facilitated by Regional Facilitators (Fasda), this activity is also complemented by WVI by providing socialization about identity, child protection and evaluative matters about partnership programs.

Let's support the Contextual Character Education and Basic Literacy movements as well as mutual-educational partnerships so that teachers, educators and students can be smart, literate, have good character and live in its fullness.
