Volunteer Story: Helps Humanitarian Work Through Digital Marketing by The Cardiff University Graduate

Doing humanitarian work does not always have to be a humanitarian worker. This is proof by Kinari Adiarni, a Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) volunteer who graduated from Cardiff University in the UK. With an educational background in Business Management and Marketing, Kinari helped WVI behind the scenes and brought the change as long as she participated in the #AksiDariHati program with WVI.

“I volunteered at the office and was added to the Digital Experience and Communications team. I get a lot of different tasks, such as analyzing WVI's social media performance, content creation, website copywriting, creating Facebook Ads, and translating Annual Reports," said Kinari telling the excitement of the volunteer activities she did with WVI.

The woman who is currently doing an internship as a content creator at one of the agency's digital offices admitted that she was familiar with various programs carried out by WVI since childhood. This is because his father was also one of the staff at WVI.

Kinari felt a deep impression in doing volunteer activities. She did not expect that the small work she did could have a big impact on the WVI assisted communities.

"It's fulfilling work and motivating to know what you do is making a positive difference no matter how small," she continued.

Before working with WVI, Kinari had also done the same thing. Through his presentation at a TED Talk event in Singapore when he was in high school, Kinari did small things that also had a big impact. The topics discussed at that time were related to mental health and stigma. This experience gave her the confidence to do more for humanity.

According to her, volunteering with WVI is a fun activity. Kinari can learn many things, especially how a humanitarian agency can adapt to the digital world and continue to have an impact on society.

I definitely recommend friends who haven't volunteered to join! If you were like me and you felt inexperienced and intimidated, don't worry! The WVI team is super friendly and supportive every step of the way. You also get to educate yourself and others of important social issues that still need more attention in Indonesia," she said to everyone who is still hesitant to join WVI volunteers.
